My Brother KC has myotonic dystrophy. This disease affects his muscles and his heart. Even though this was a struggle for him he had a desire to serve the Lord. The doctors didn't think it would be smart to send him too far away from his home, doctor and family so he volunteered  to be a service missionary. The bishop called him into his office, and talked to KC about his options. Later the bishop and KC got working on the paper work with the help of our Mom and Dad.When he received his mission call he found out his calling was indexing. His mission duration was one year. He loved working with people and teaching them how to index. However most of his mission was working on the indexing on his own.His bishop cheered him on, he wanted My brother to do enough names to fill the foot ball stadium. He met with the bishop every other week and he keep track of how many names he had done. Others also cheered him on as well. His friend Kyler Haskell was asked to come and be a companion to KC on his mission days. That made tasks easier for him.

He had up and down days like any missionary does. Times were hard, but people were very nice to him wherever he would go. My brother KC and our Mom went to the temple often. All and all he served well and diligently. Enduring all. He completed 107,776 names.  His family is very proud of him. The mission was very rewarding to Him. it was a great experience for him. He was glad he got to serve the Lord despite his physical condition. The blessing for him and his family were wonderful, eternal, and everlasting.

That was a summery that my Mom and KC wrote up. :) (I just changed the wording to apply as needed)

My own words:

KC (Kim Calvin) Hansen. I am so proud of you. I am glad you chose to go on a mission and I know Dad in Heaven is proud of you. I know this was out of your comfort zone, but I know you learned a lot and you will never regret it! Heavenly Father is very proud of you. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!
