My husband teases me about listening to Christian Rock/music. In LDS culture, most of the music we listen to and are specifically sung in the church are hymns. It is a different style. The hymns have a more reverent, quiet approach. We believe the spirit generally speaks in a still small voice (most often) and the words written in the hymns invite that.
Our Faith also tells us their is truth everywhere-not just from one culture, one person, religion, or even genre of music. In fact it's in our 13th article of faith it statesaWebelieve in beingbhonest, true, cchaste, dbenevolent, virtuous, and in doingegoodto all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, wefhopeall things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able togendureall things. If there is anythinghvirtuous, ilovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." Christian Rock for me may not be very "quiet" or completely "reverent", but it's certainly is promoting goodness.
