Homeopathy. What is it?

Definition: "Homeopathy, or homeopathic medicine, is a medical philosophy and practice based on the idea that the body has the ability to heal itself. Homeopathy was founded in the late 1700s in Germany and has been widely practiced throughout Europe. Homeopathic medicine views symptoms of illness as normal responses of the body as it attempts to regain health.

Homeopathy is based on the idea that "like cures like." That is, if a substance causes a symptom in a healthy person, giving the person a very small amount of the same substance may cure the illness. In theory, a homeopathic dose enhances the body's normal healing and self-regulatory processes."

Disclaimer:Although people sometimes assume that all homeopathic remedies are highly diluted and therefore unlikely to cause harm, some products labeled as homeopathic MAY or MAY NOT contain substantial amounts of active ingredients and therefore could cause side effects and drug interactions.

This is a very controversial topic and there is NOT enough scientific evidence to prove that this is effective.

However, I've always been fascinated with more natural approaches on how to aid our bodies. I'm strong believer that modern medicine was made to help and prolong our health and our lives, but I've also experienced first hand that it can be overly prescribed and potentially dangerous. There is a lot of information out there, and I'm neither for or against either. I believe there is moderation in all things, and one can never be to careful when dealing with our own well being. Decide for yourself. :)

I agree! I could not believe that my son, suffering with a high temperature, would not react to regular fever-reducing medicines. It scared me. A friend came and put some peppermint oil on the back of his neck and it dissipated! I now have explored for years different treatments because of that night I was so afraid and saw that change. Great research, especially to be such a prepared and informed mother one day! :)
