So the whole Chic-fil-a thing has got the whole nation riled up, while I don't think this is news worthy. I'm glad to hear/read the comments of others in person and on facebook. I think it's great that people are FINALLY voicing how they feel about things like this.
When Obama became president, I was appalled at how many people didn't vote, or even know the first thing about where they morally stood, which party they belonged to, and weren't motivated to look for those answers.
While I wasn't the most informed either, I did try to support and vote for the people I thought would best support our country.
Things have changed mostly because *I* have changed. I may have not been able to see all the active people who really do a great job of keeping up with politics. I didn't associate with them much, or at least we didn't discuss those topics.
Politics can be such a hard thing address because there is a variety of people with their a diverse perception on how things should be. Conversations get heated and a lot people choose to just avoid it for that very reason. I don't blame those people, I don't seek out argument.
I think its important though. Extremely important and yes I never want to offend nor for there to be contention in a conversation. That's why I think it's crucial to listen to what others have to say, if you listen and REALLY listen.. You can generally learn something. Even if its a just a stronger conviction of what you already believe.
That's why I think the whole Chic-fil-a shouldn't be on a the news. There are much more demanding and more important issues going on in the world today that we could be focusing on. The guy was asked a question, and he replied to it. That's his right. It's called Freedom of speech. He is a Christian who supports traditional marriage. What did you expect him to say? It's their right as a company to support who and what they want to.
The same goes with the left side, if they feel differently-It's their right to disagree.
Whats NOT right is insulting employees, vandalizing buildings, and threatening letters showing up these locations.
While, morally I don't agree with same sex marriage, I also don't judge the people who choose it, because I don't understand nor do I try to. People often base their reasons off hatred, and I have tried hard not to do that.
The best thing about America is that we have freedom. Free to choose, free to speak, etc and while I may not always agree with someones actions, I will always stand up for their agency because I would never want someone to take away those same rights that belong to me.
